David’s Mighty Men

Aug 20, 2016   //   by Nel Sewraj   //   Blog  //  No Comments

2 Samuel 23:8f

  1. Adino/ Josheb-Basshebeth (v.8)
  • He was a Tachmonite. His name means:
  1. Sagacious – wise or shrewd, having or based on a profound knowledge and understanding of the world combined with intelligence and good judgment
  2. Skilful – having special ability, a specialist, having abilities developed over a period of time
  • He killed 800 men in one encounter.
  • He represents sons that demonstrate extraordinary prowess and clout when it comes to contending with enemy positions at the gates of their cities and in the earth

  1. Eleazer (v.9)
  • His name combines two root words: “El” means strength or Almighty; “azar” means to surround, protect, aid and help. Eleazer represents a son who is stands strong when it comes to protecting, aiding and helping the father.
  • When other sons forsake the father they faithfully stand with him. They are the last ones standing with him (v.9)
  • These are sons who don’t tire easily. They serve the father and the agenda of the Kingdom until their physical, emotional and spiritual stamina is exhausted

  1. Shammah (v.11)
  • The name Shammah means ruin, consternation, desolation, and waste. Such was his grace and spirit. He had a violent spirit. He represents sons that are militant, aggressive and revolutionary in the spirit.
  • The field he defended belonged to the king. These are sons that will defend everything that rightfully belongs to the father from the Lord. In so doing they protect the father’s honour.

  1. Three of the thirty chief men (v.13)
  • Theologians say that Abishai & Benaiah were part of this trio
  • They were devoted to David even before he was king. Sons connect to the father because of promise not popularity.
  • These three men demonstrated tremendous fidelity and loyalty. Without such faithfulness and loyalty sonship is not possible.

5. Abishai (v.18)

  • Abishai was the only one who accompanied David when he went to the camp of Saul (1 Sam.26). He is always in close proximity to David. He is a son that stays close by the father’s side.
  • He slew the Philistine giant Ishbi-benob, who threatened David’s life when he grew faint (2Sam.21:15-17). Sometimes fathers wear out. Sons must know how to step-in and protect and cover fathers.
  • During Absalom’s rebellion, Abishai remained true to the king. He even commanded a third part the army to fight against Absalom.

6. Benaiah (v.20)

  • He was the son of Jehoiada. Jehoiada was the chief priest (1 Chron.27:5). Benaiah was born a priest but became a soldier. Accurate sons possess priestly DNA. Their hearts connect accurately with the Lord. Their lives are devoted to prayer & intercession, Word & mediation etc.
  • He was put in-charge of David’s personal bodyguard because he was probably the most trusted & of the king’s men.
  • His courage and skill as a soldier were second to none (v.20-21). The great theologian, Frank Boreham writes concerning Benaiah, “He met the worst of enemies, in the worst of places, under the worst of conditions; and he won.”
  • The spirit of David was reproduced in Benaiah since he was the only one who replicated David’s accomplishments
  • Benaiah eventually became the head of David’s son Solomon’s army (1 Kings 2: 35). He is one of the only mighty men to finish strong.
  • Benaiah struck three types of people with the sword (1 Kings2):
  1. Adonijah – those who threaten the father’s vision & interests
  2. Joab – those who betray and double-cross the father
  3. Shimei – those who dishonour the father

Division in the Vatican

Feb 25, 2013   //   by admin   //   Blog  //  No Comments

The following Word was prophesied at Groundbreakers on the Sunday 04th November 2012:

“We pray the Word of the Lord over the Vatican. God is going to set a cat amongst the pigeons. God is going to bring about shakings in the Vatican. This will be the beginnings of the end of the spirit of religion. Within the Vatican there will be men like Nicodemus that will begin to stand up against it. We prophesy that a fragmentation will come upon the Vatican. What will happen in the Vatican be shocking because it will be something that the Vatican never thought would happen in history. Something very serious is about to happen in the Vatican.”

Three and a half months after this Word was release, on the 11th of February 2013, Pope Benedict XVI resigned. He made history by becoming only the second pope to resign in the Church’s 2 000-year existence and the first to do so in 700 years. Headlines all over the world carried the caption: “Pope’s sudden resignation sends shockwaves through Church.”

The Pope’s decision is shocking, and unprecedented in modern times. The last  Pope to resign was Gregory XII, in 1415, and that was during a time of extreme  turmoil—of Popes and anti-Popes—in which the Church was looking to break a  standoff between three contenders to the throne of Saint Peter.

Pope Benedict XVI’s decision to step down at the end of the month (February 2013) was a  surprise—but not a total surprise. Rumors that the Pope might resign began last  summer after the so-called Vatileaks scandal, in which the Pope’s personal  attendant was arrested for stealing numerous documents from the Pontiff’s  correspondence. The letters revealed infighting among the highest ranks of the  Curia.

His final sermon was a hard-hitting one. He condemned the “hypocrisy” of those who use their religion just for show and urged an end to “rivalry” and “divisions” within a Church that has been plagued in recent years by a series of scandals. “We can reveal the face of the church and how this face is, at times, disfigured,” Benedict said. “I am thinking in particular of the sins against the unity of the church, of the divisions in the body of the church.” He called for his ministry to overcome “individualism” and “rivalry,” saying they were only for those “who have distanced themselves from the faith.”

Dr Jonathan David’s Prophetic Word for South Africa

Jan 27, 2013   //   by groundbreakers   //   Blog  //  No Comments

The Lord shows me of the breaking down of satanic influence and rule in the South African terrain. The Lord is shattering the strongholds of darkness, corruption, injustice, violence and the rule of fear. I see in the Spirit that satan cannot keep his management of the territory because there is a sovereign shaking of the terrain in which he is standing. From underneath his feet is emerging a generation of men and women who are the True Rainbow Nation – Faces without Races. They are locked arm to arm, step by step taking back the land from deceptive pretenders and politicians.

Piece after piece is broken from his control and these pieces are coming together to form a whole new nation. This stranglehold will be broken. It will not be a black or white or colored South Africa. It will be a whole new nation. The spirit of apartheid will be broken for good and forever (1994-2014). These Egyptians you see today you’ll never see again. The system of slavery will be completely destroyed. This system of rule of fear, oppression and intimidation will fall by the wayside. Satanic influence on South Africa’s destiny will be minimalized. It will become a minority race because the Lord Himself will silence the enemy. Satanic forces will not utter their voice in the streets, in the media and in their communities. Where He is heard, the enemy will be silenced!

A new sound will be heard in the political arena. A call for oneness. A call for true sons of Africa. A call for Africa to Arise. The call for death and destruction will be silenced by the overwhelming resonance of excitement of joy of the birth of a new nation.

South Africa the next two years are seasons of prayer and hiding in His presence. The angel of death will send His judgement on those who violate His blood and His redemption of this nation. The blood of His righteous Son has been shed No other blood need to be shed. His life was given for South Africa’s redemption, no other life need to be taken.

God is rising in jealously for her . He is going to execute swift judgement on those bent on hell and destruction. You will see Him sovereignly moving them out and He will terrorize them with fear of Him.

The Church must arise form her lethargy and connect together and not collide with each other. He is summoning fathers in the land to humble themselves and surrender their self identity for a corporate dynamics of destiny. He will bring the fathers together with their agenda but under His kingdom mandate and agenda. Those who refuse to yield because of bitterness will be removed and sidelined. They will be like Uzziah alienated till the day of their death. Some will be like Hezekiah who will follow this course of destiny for a while and then revert back to the old. Though God will extend their years, they will lose all by the next generation.

South Africa will rise once again and become the Cape of God’s Hope. There will be life and not death. The winds of adversity will give over to winds of refreshing and restoration. We will see fulfilment of what we have believed. It is only a matter of time now, wait patiently; wait earnestly; wait in His Presence. When He rises, You will.

God’s Servant,

Dr. Jonathan David

Zion – The Perfected Church

Sep 25, 2012   //   by admin   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Heb 12:22-24

  1. It is supernatural – not natural
  • v.18 cf v.22
  • Mt. Sinai was natural, ordinary and earthly; Mt Zion is supernatural , extraordinary and heavenly
  • This Church has more than just a natural, geographical position; it has spiritual stature
  • This Church takes us from the natural into the Spirit. It has dimensions of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit dwells in our midst & expresses Himself as much as He can.
  • Our spiritual atmosphere must be conducive for the Spirit to move. The Spirit Himself touches and meets the needs of the members

  1. It is the city of the living God
  • “City” speaks of governance and authorities. Zion is a Church that represents God’s government and authority
  • It has authority structure and chain of command. Everybody cannot be doing their own thing
  • There are ranks in the spirit. Members should not pursue equalisation; they must stay within their grace & fulfil their call. Going beyond this will open them up to demonic attack
  • Phil.2:5f – Jesus was exalted because He did not pursue equality with the Father. Gen. 48:19 – fathers know things that sons don’t
  • Eph.4:15-16 – every individual part/member of the body must accept responsibility for the body and contribute something

  1. It is the heavenly Jerusalem
  • We don’t gather together for meetings; we appear before God
  • This Church is the place of unlimited possibilities. It is a city without walls (Zech.2:4).
  • No other spirit except the Holy Spirit can limit us or place boundaries around us (Acts 16:6-8)
  • This is the place of depth of relationship intimacy with God and also partnership with God (Rev. 21:1-2 – this Church is the Bride of Christ)
  • It is to this company that God focuses His plans & purposes. Therefore we need to be a people who are accountable

  1. Myriads of angels gather here
  • This Church has heavenly reinforcements. These include ministering angels and warring angels
  • They remove obstacles from our pathways, sometimes opening us into the miraculous
  • The Word of the Lord is not just for preaching to members;  activates the angelic (Ps.103:20)
  • The unseen realm is ordered by the presence of angelic hosts:
  1. Jesus rebuked the storm because demonic powers were behind it. Angels assisted to push these forces back
  2. Rev.12:5f – when the Church brings forth sons to reign, war breaks out

  1. This church is the general assembly

The General Assembly has the authority to execute the written judgements of Go

  • Ps 149:5-9
  • This Church executes what is written. It no longer listens to sermons. The written judgements of God are declared and the saints execute it
  • “Ekklesia” – Thayer: “an assembly of the people (called out from their homes) convened at the public place of the council for the purpose of deliberating”
  • This church is God’s tactical headquarters; a people of power and intelligence
  •  This Church is the governing body, the Council, the parliament and court-house where verdicts are pronounced and judgements are executed
  • Therefore there are some things we cannot afford to do:

a)      We cannot afford to live frivolously & recklessly

b)      We cannot build the church like we have done before

c)       We cannot return to what church used to be

2)      The general assembly endorses the new things that god wants to do in our city

  • Nothing should be allowed within our jurisdiction without our endorsement. This church has oversight over the city
  • We have the power to get bills passed and laws changed
  • The policies and legislation for our city should be conceived within our spirits and through our declarations
  • This church has a clear perception of the prophetic destiny of the city

3)      The general assembly Capacitates the people for the different domains of the city

  1. This Church brings about a reformation of every sector of society by strategically deploying competent sons of God
  2. It prepares the person and gives them the purpose. However, the onus is upon the person to develop their own skills
  3. This church is like a recruitment centre. When society needs competent business or political personnel, we must have them in readiness
  4. Religion only trains believers for “church work”

4)      The general assembly is the leader and director of the affairs of the community

  1.  We must provide leadership for the development of our city and region
  2. The jurisdiction of the General Assembly is outside the “four walls” of the church. It is not church as we know it; it is church unusual! We must get involved outside the church
  3. Members of the General Assembly are trained and strategically positioned in society
  4. Groundbreakers have the opportunity to be trained in politics & mentored in business

5)      The general assembly has its list of mighty men

  1. 1 Chron.11:1f
  2. The whole nation came to covenant with David because they heard the Word of the Lord concerning David
  3. However only 400 men gave themselves to the process of establishing his kingdom. Not everyone who hears will build.
  4. It’s only some who will make the difference for the others. These are the select ones who make all the difference. These make up the General Assembly.

6. The church of the firstborn sons who are registered in heaven

1)      This company of believers are blessed with the birthright

  1.  This is the core and apex of the Church: true sons. They are a unique company of people
  2. They have a strong sense of ownership in the house and over the Kingdom
  3. As a firstborn company they carry a double-portion of the Spirit (Isaiah 61:7 “Therefore in their land they shall possess double”) The first portion is received from their father’s impartation. They receive it as their own. This portion is multiplied when they come into their own inheritance

2)      These are sons who are maturing to the full measure of the stature of Christ

  1. Eph.4:13 “till we all come to…a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ
  2. These are no longer babes and children in the Kingdom. They have put away childish things (1 Cor.13:11 “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things”)
  3. The above also pertains to the younger 2nd generation in the house. If legacy is to continue in them, we must speak to them like they are somebody. We cannot water down the Word

3)      Firstborns are in pursuit of an inheritance

  1.  Their inheritance: to take cities and nations for God (Ps 2:8)
  2. Gal. 4:1-2,7 – Their maturity as sons gives them access to inheritance
  3.  On the other hand, immature sons are always fighting for their rights. Like the Prodigal Son, they have an entitlement mentality i.e. “Give me my portion!” Later he returns to the father with a posture of maturity saying “Make me…”             The father therefore blessed the son with true inheritance because self-centredness was eliminated

4)      Firstborns are patterned sons

  1. The church of the firstborn will bring forth firstborn sons. These are Christ-like sons made after the pattern of Christ
  2. They are the first-fruit company produced by the Church
  3. They are also the first-fruit company sown into the earth. The world is not looking for Christians; it is looking for Christ, the Son of God. Therefore, we don’t need Christian politicians; we need politicians who are patterned sons – like Christ. Like Christ, their mere presence will begin to change things

5)      This church’s concern: the transfer of legacy

  1. We therefore seek to build and release as many Groundbreakers as possible. We also want to impart everything we have and know to you
  2. Legacy cannot be transferred apart from relationship. Pursuing relationship is therefore a non-negotiable. Members must deal with & eliminate internal insecurities & hostilities
  3.  Parents must transfer truth to their children. Your children must know what God has spoken to you, the assignment of Groundbreakers, and their role as continuity of legacy

7. Zion is where God Is the Judge of all

1)      This is the place of God’s approval & Assurance

  1.  This is the Church that is convinced that God is for them. They are confident that they have His approval as His son
  2. Knowing that God is for us and that He approves us gives us power, hope and victory even in the face of hostility
  3. Many believers misread attacks as divine disapproval. So they respond wrongly and negatively. Examples:
  • The disciples in the boat with Jesus (Matt.8; Mk 4; Luke 8)
  • The reaction of David’s men at Ziklag (1 Sam. 30)

2)      This is the place of continual purifying and perfecting

  1. It is the place where our walk is continually judged so that it meets up to the standards of God
  2. It is not possible to walk with God and to remain in uncleanness. We must change our garments before we can sit with or sup with the King
  3.  Everything about us must become better and better (character, relationships, spiritual sights, stature & influence). Our doctrine must become clearer and clearer

3)      This is the place Where MY conscience is clear

  1. At Zion condemnation coming from within us ceases. Why? Because God’s justice is measured by righteousness. We have appropriated Christ’s righteousness within us
  2.  When we come to Zion, the devil cannot accuse us any longer. We are not under condemnation (Rev.12:10)
  3. Goliath harassed the minds of the army of Israel for 40 days until they had no power to move. David arrived with a conscience judged clear. Therefore nothing Goliath said could intimidate him
  4.  Always keep your conscience clear & clean. Talk clean, think clean, act clean

4)      This is the place where God judges satanic powers

  1. Here God intercepts and strikes the enemy on our behalf. He fights our battles for us
  2. In this dimension God subjects all our enemies to us. Those who oppose us begin to be supernaturally floored before us
  3. Gen.14:14-24 – The king of Sodom’s visit to Abraham is intercepted by Melchizedek. Abraham therefore does not succumb to this enemy’s schemes.
  4. Even “backlash” becomes taboo to the spiritually mature
  1. This is the place where God REWARDS us
    1. When God judges us He does so to reward us. It is for incentive; it is not punitive
    2. The heavens begin to open over us. Nothing is withheld from us. God puts everything at our disposal
    3. This is the church that is going to reap the harvest. These are the people who are

8.       Zion is where the spirits of the righteous are made perfect

  1. Perfection: the greatest potential and capacity each person can attain in Christ
  • “Teleios” – Christlike maturity, spiritual wholeness & completeness
  • You will live by the language of the Spirit (the Word of the Lord, revelations, visions, dreams, prophecies and more). Joseph – the dream was alive in him; through it he triumphed over set-backs
  • Each one’s grace has been maximized. They are fresh & deep wells. Here you are able to draw from each other’s grace & measure
  • You become the first connecting point between heaven or spirit world and the earth
  • Rom.8:15 “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!“
  • In this realm you come to fully realize the spirit of adoption
  • It is the place of total satisfaction. In this realm you are no longer concerned about yourselves; it all about the Father!
  • He is the only One who connects you to God. Nothing and no-one else can connect you to God – not fasting, prayer, spiritual works, books, psychology or any other thing
  • It is only through Christ that you can have healing, deliverance, blessings, power, anointing and more. Christ is the ONLY Mediator!
  • Only through Christ we can have success in all human systems & endeavours (marriage, money, morality, ministry…)
  • Heb.2:8 tells us that God has “PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET”
  • Heb.6:20 calls Jesus “the Forerunner” which means: one who comes in advance to a place where the rest are to follow
  • This means that all the things that have been subjected to Him will also be subjected to us!
  • Because all things are already subjected to Him, He becomes the guarantee of this promise to us. We are His body.
  • Heb.9:24-28 – Jesus’ on-going ministry before the throne. He appears before the presence of God to do three things: To take away your sin, to intercede for you, for your salvation
  • Although His ministry is behind the veil, we can connect to Him in the real of the spirit. As Jesus draws from the Father He gives to us
  • A limitless life is resourced from this place. We can experience     life in abundance. Walking in this dimension changes everything. Things that other people cannot touch we can receive in Zion
  • Whatever is lacking in you as a “man-Christ” you will receive here. Christ will form us with Word coming from behind the veil
  • You become more and more Christ-like – more of His nature, His personality, His whole being manifesting in you
  • This is why it is critical that you spend more time in the dimension of the Spirit. The more you immerse yourself in the Spirit, the more the life of Christ forms in every area of your life
  • He will cause His Church to enter a level of faith where they will move mountains & do great miracles, signs and wonders
  • Your faith will be set on His Word. You will speak His Word and believe that His Word can do the impossible
  • You will speak and it will happen. You will be able to operate like God here on earth. The power of your words will have the same effect as the words of Jesus
  • You will have power over nature, your circumstances and so on
  1. This is the place of spiritual synergizing with one another
  1. Before anything can manifest from the spirit world, it must pass through YOUR spirit first!
  1. Relationship and connection      with the father becomes a reality in this realm

9. Zion is where Jesus is the      mediator of the new covenant

  1. There is only one mediator: CHRIST HIMSELF!
  1. Jesus is the guarantee of the new covenant
  1. Jesus secures a better promise for a greater future for us
  1. Jesus’ priestly ministry behind the veil will bring about the making of a new man
  1. Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith

10.   Zion is where the sprinkled blood speaks better things than the blood of abel

  1. The blood OF JESUS was the high      price god paid to redeem YOUR SOUL
  • The high price was Jesus’ blood! Therefore you cannot be snatched out of His hands. The devil cannot offer any counterbid for you
  • Around your family, possessions, wealth, mind and emotions
  • Also over your body too. Sickness should not persist because God has paid the price. Our own negligence, stresses brings sicknesses upon us
  • Your spirit has 3 functions: communion, intuition, conscience
  • When you change/repent your past cannot taunt you any more. Its power is broken. Your conscience is cleansed
  • Heaven’s demands are satisfied; the standards of living God demands are also satisfied. I am approved as His son
  • Blood speaks of life. Jesus blood was unique because it comprised the life of God. It came directly from God – not from Mary
  • Medical science has shown that the blood of a mother and her unborn child never mixes (“It is an established physiological fact that the mother’s blood is neither the source nor supply of the blood in the unborn infant’s veins. It is the contribution of the male which leads to the development of the blood”) Jesus partook of human flesh neither with Eve’s blood – nor with Adam’s blood!
  • Jesus’ blood was incorruptible because He came from above!
  1. The blood of Jesus clears your conscience when you produce the fruit of repentance

Eight Expressions of Kingdom Mentality

Sep 25, 2012   //   by admin   //   Blog  //  No Comments

  1. Kingdom does not go backwards
  • Therefore we will not find children of the Kingdom backsliding
  • Our motto is: “Backwards Never, Forward Ever!”
  • The children ofIsraelcraved the fish, onions & leeks ofEgypt. Kingdom mentality was absent. But because Kingdom does not go backwards they had to die in the wilderness. If you are not wiling to move on with God, you will die (because when the cloud & pillar of fire is removed you will die by exposure at night or heatstroke by day).
  • We must move to new levels in God within the house – from Believers to Members to Disciples to Ministers to Sons in the house.

  1. Kingdom does not debate or cut deals with people
  • People are always offering us deals that will sidetrack us & sabotage our destiny
  • Daniel & his friends were offered the king’s portion but refused to indulge themselves. What we eat may sometimes end up eating us! Prov.23:1-3 “When you sit down to eat with a ruler, look carefully at what is before you; and put a knife to your throat, if you are a man given to appetite. Do not desire his delicacies, for they are deceitful food.”
  • Kingdom cannot negotiate or debate – it cannot do deals!
  • Babylonwants to get us to bow to its image of gold (Dan.3). The three Hebrew boys were accurate & steadfast in their Kingdom expression even if God did not deliver them!

  1. Kingdom forcefully advances
  • Matt.11:12
  • Our motto: “No retreat, no rethink, no surrender!”
  • We don’t rethink our commitment.

  1. Only the forceful can lay hold of it
  • Matt.11:12
  • Except no limitation as far as the Kingdom is concerned.
  • We must say “No!” to everything that seeks to hinder us from high visibility & maximum impact.

  1. The Kingdom cuts down & grinds into powder every false move or imposter
  • Dan. 2The idol was cut down & ground into powder
  • Therefore you cannot afford to be part of the false. If we are we will be crushed also

  1. The kingdom will fill the whole earth
  • Dan.2:35 “But the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth”
  • Deut. 10:14  “Behold, to the LORD your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it”
  • Hab 2:14  “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea”

  1. The Kingdom will swallow all other kingdoms
  • John 18:36  “Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”
  • The Kingdom does not operate like the kingdoms of the earth. It’s modus operandi is far superior
  • This is the difference between churches: the true church builds His Kingdom; the counterfeit, false churches builds an empire

  1. The Kingdom cannot be shaken
  • Heb 12:26-28
  • We have received a kingdom that cannot be shaken! Heaven & earth will be shaken but not this Kingdom!
  • Therefore when everything is being shaken around you, you can still stand tall & strong!

Characteristics of Authentic Sons

Sep 25, 2012   //   by admin   //   Blog  //  No Comments

1 Cor 4:16f

1.                  Sons teach the people how to imitate the father

  •  Paul wants the Corinthian church to emulate his life and example because he is their father and founder (v.16). This was the reason (v.17) why he sent Timothy (his son) to them.  The problem with church is that they don’t know how to imitate/follow the example of God-given fathers. Sons are there to show the rest how to imitate the father. This is possible when sons have first settled it in their hearts/convinced that we are the legitimate graces of God over their lives.
  • Sons don’t teach the member to emulate them; they make known (remind) the father’s example to the people. This is a high demand. Which of our sons can we trust to go to a certain place and teach people how to imitate me? Therefore, because this is the essence of sonship, sonship is hard.
  • In order to imitate us or teach it, sons need good perception. They have to know how we live, how we have died to the things of this world, how we have served, obeyed the Lord, our fruit, passion, devotion, doctrine. When people see my spiritual sons, they must be able to see exclusive information about me.

2.                 Sons help to remind the people about the father’s ways

  •  The church may have had numerous exposures to the apostolic grace/spiritual father. However sons are there to remind the church about the ways (code of conduct, thoughts, feelings, decisions, and habits) of the father. This is a high level of engagement and implies that the sons are well acquainted with the preferences (even the little details) of the father. In so doing they represent the father precisely even in his absence and thus become his successors eg. Timothy began to step into the grace of Paul and became and apostle too (1 Thes.1:1 cf 2:6)
  • How many of you know my ‘ways’?
  • In the book of Haggai, apostolic and prophetic authority is absent, so the Word of the Lord is “Consider your ways!”

Phil 2:19f

3.                 Sons are like-minded to the father

  •  Phil 2:19-20 – verse 20 “likeminded” is Greek “isopsuchos” means to have to same mind or spirit, equal in soul. Basically it means that sons have identical mind-sets with the father. The father’s preferences are theirs too.
  •  This is the deficiency with the teachings on Sonship. Not everybody can live up to this standard
  • The burden in this season is sons – not souls. Apostolic grace is the grace of reproduction, multiplication of grace and succession i.e. reproducing men/women of stature. Only sons are going to redeem creation!

4.                 Sons care about the body/ the church

  •  Verse 20 – “who will sincerely care for your state”. “State” = “peri” = one’s locality, circuit, surrounding. Sons have a sincere care and love for the body; they will not defile or exploit the body. They don’t attack, fight with, quarrel with or complain about the body. They don’t hate everyone who has weaknesses in the body. They are always consumed with unfolding the father’s intentions to the body.
  • The body is not only our local church; it is bigger. It pertains even to the church in the city.

5.                 Sons must have proven character

  •  Phil 2:22 “proven character” – “dokime” – test, try, prove, approved
  • Sons don’t exploit the father. They don’t look for their own benefit from the father. They are not opportunistic and selfishly ambitious.

6.                 Sons serve with the father

  •  V.23 “with” means that where the father is, the son will be (time, place, call, destiny, revelation). They keep up with the pace. They make the sacrifice and go the extra mile.

2 Tim.3:10

Sons must know everything about the father. (Here a list is given in order of priority)

I cannot have sons who don’t know what I believe (“doctrine”) or anything about my “manner of life”

Slaves in the house:

 Slaves cannot be given authority/dominion

Slaves stay in the house because of bondage/ captivity

  • Sons abide in the house for ever
  1. A slave’s loyalty is motivated by carnal obligations
  2. Slaves are not dependable and reliable.
  3. Salves cannot be trusted with the house/ things of the house
  4. Slaves lack intimacy with the set man of the house
  5. Slaves obey merely with “eye service, as men pleasers” but not “from the heart” (Eph.6:5)
  1. Slaves will not stay in      the house forever.

Why the Hearts of Sons Must Turn to Their Fathers

Mal. 4:6 – The last verse of the OT projects the next prophetic season. It gives us the foretaste of the forthcoming kairos in God. It provides the operational principle on which the season of the church. The coming apostolic age would hinge on the principle of fathers and sons.

Luke 15

1. The younger son comes to the father; the older son comes to the house ((v.18 cf v.25)

2. The older son’s heart was not synchronised with the father’s.

  • Therefore he response to the younger brother’s return contradicts the father’s. He refuses to partake in his father’s joy. This brings into unnecessary conflicts with the father. It may have even caused him to despise the father.

3. He kept an account of all his works of service (v.29)

  • There’s no sense of ownership.

4. He had the mentality of a slave (v.29)

  • He wanted to be rewarded/ compensated for his works and service
  • He says that he was a “slave” for so many years (v.29)
  • He forgot that all that remains was his (He gets a double-portion too)

5. He had a self-righteous spirit

  • v.29 “I never transgressed your commandment at any time”

6. He has a problem with how the father is running things.

  • He feels the father is wrong; and that he can do better

His perception of the situation was vastly different from the father because his heart was not turned to the father’s. When sons turn their hearts to their fathers, they will assess things the same way the father does.

Redefining the Role of the Senior Elder

Sep 25, 2012   //   by admin   //   Blog  //  No Comments

       i.            It is more accurate to acknowledge the set man’s role as an “elder” rather than a “pastor”

ii.            There is a need for mature believers (having self-government) to rise up in the house – not religious members that place unnecessary expectations on the senior elder

iii.            Members must settle the “assurance of love” issue in your heart once & for all. They shouldn’t doubt the Senior Elder’s love for them.

1.       The Senior Elder’s call evolves from the pastoral and become more apostolic in function

  • Apostolic function is more demanding because:

i.      It focuses on Kingdom – not just the church

ii.      It pertains to every domain of society

iii.      It Includes the non-Christian world

iv.      It concerns itself with the prophetic destiny of cities and nations

v.      Its goal: to see God’s government manifest in every nation

vi.      Its concern: the spiritual take-over of cities & nations

  • His pastoral function and care-giving role has to be replaced by other pastors and emerging leaders in the house

2.       The Senior Elder’s input will be typified by rancher-style of ministry instead of shepherd-style of ministry

  • Members must move from one-to-one interaction to group interaction with the set man. Placing undue expectations on the set man is ungodly; this work must be accomplished by others
  • For this reason he may have been grooming gifted and responsible people over the years who will be able to function well in these roles

3.       The Senior Elder’s responsibility is moving from caregiver to trainer

  • Saints must be equipped more than being cared-for (“equipping of the saints” Eph.4:11-12)
  • Leaders in the house have been properly trained & equipped to embrace his pastoral responsibilities while he moves forward into apostolic function

4.       The Senior Elder must shift from carrying the burden of the people to carrying the burden of the Lord

  • Acts 6 – from the needs of the people to the Word & prayer
  • The burden of the Lord extends beyond the borders of the church

5.       The Senior Elder has to upgrade from being a pastor of a church to becoming an elder of his city

  • Titus 1:5

6.       The Senior Elder’s concentration has to shift from saints and more to succession/ sons

  • When he moves up higher, he makes room for succession. Leadership responsibilities have to be distributed to emerging leaders in the house. He has to concentrate on raising up a replacement generation for himself
  • His emphasis must move from:

i.      Maintenance to maturity

ii.      Quick-fix problem solving to permanently forming Christ in lives

iii.      Behaviour patterns to belief systems

iv.      Church member’s needs to the needs of the Kingdom

  1. 7.       The Senior Elder’s priority must focus more on spiritual graces like the Word of the Lord, governmental prayer & the Holy Spirit’s movements in the earth – Acts 6

Five Golden Rules for Husbands

May 11, 2012   //   by admin   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Marriage has its seasons. Husbands enjoy it when it is “in season”. These are times of understanding, forbearance, friendship and contribution. However, there are the occasional times when it is “out of season”. These are times of misunderstanding, intolerance, unmet expectations and tension. All marriages will encounter these seasons, some more than others. They are unavoidable. What matters is how soon we resolve our marital difference and return to “in season” mode again. Our attitudes play an important role in our response and ability to resolve marital issues.

When we come into the Kingdom, our attitudes must be adjusted if not overhauled. One of the ways husbands can minimize or even avoid conflict with their wives is to heed the biblical advice found in 1 Peter 3:7 which says:

“Husbands, likewise dwell with them with understanding.”

This understanding or knowledge refers to the divine knowledge which we have and by which we live. We should always keep our marriages within the design of God. In the Kingdom we relate to our wives according to the wisdom of the Word. Here are some golden rules from the Scriptures.

1.      HONOUR your wife – even in your thoughts

  •  To ‘honour’ someone means that you think no evil of them. You maintain her dignity in your mind.
  • Don’t confuse the problem with the person. It may seem hard to distinguish between the two but you must do it. When you do, her person will still be esteemed and held in high regard; if you don’t, you will violate her in your mind and assassinate her character. In so doing, you will be adding more fuel to the fire instead of putting it out.
  • We must not devalue the biblical truths about your marriage & your wife. Keep them at the forefront of our minds. Truths like:
    • Marriage is a divine symbol or type. You are a type of Christ; she is a type of the church (Eph.5:25-33)

 2.     Grit your teeth and LOVE you wife! (Eph.5:25-33)

  •  Be committed to her!
  • Make a concerted effort to seek her highest good at all times
  • Don’t deceive yourself: You are in no danger of loving your wife too much. Consider how Christ continues to love & cherish the church unfailingly
  • Give all of yourself over for her wellbeing (“And He gave Himself for her…”)

3.     Understand that she is ONE with you

  •  This is the only way to promote your own wellbeing & happiness. Your loving-kindness towards her will be more than repaid (v. 33 “He that loves his wife loves himself.”)
  • Your destiny is interlocked in her and cannot be fulfilled apart from your cooperation with her (1 Peter 3:7b says that we are “heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayer be not hindered”)

4.     Settle it in your heart that she is the weaker vessel (1 Peter:3:7)

  •  You formulate expectations for her because she is supposed to be your “helpmeet”.  And when she fails to live up to these expectations, your bubble is burst. Remember, although she is your helpmeet, she is still a weaker vessel! It’s not supposed to be an equal effort relationship as we think & expect (i.e. “I give 50% & she gives 50%” is a myth). She is weaker than you so she is definitely expected to contribute lesser, maybe about 1/3, while you contribute more, maybe about 2/3. So don’t expect too much from her; you’ll never get it!
  • Her weakness is not only physiological but emotional, mental & spiritual as well. It seems that we are not just ‘heads’ of our households but ‘ahead’ in almost every regard! Please note also that this in no way makes her inferior in her person, mental endowments or contribution. It just means that she is tenderer & delicate, more prone to infirmity and weakness, and less capable of enduring rough conditions than you are.
  • You must treat her differently! She must be treated more delicately, with special kindness and extra attention, like a beloved child.

5.     Avoid all opportunities of being bitter towards them (Col.3:19)

  •  To be bitter towards her means to be ill-tempered and provoking.
  • Many men, who are polite with outsiders, are rude and bitter at home because they are not afraid to be so there.
  • Make every effort not to be bitter towards them, or relate with them unkindly, with harsh language or severe treatment. From today try to become kinder and more obliging to them. Remember, emotionally she is designed to be weak & fragile. This is how God designed her. You should not subject her to your “over-manly” spirit, headstrong attitudes, brute nature, aloof moods or harsh speech. We must tread cautiously & sensitively.
